This page explains what Muscle Mint and Shopify store on your device when you visit musclemint.co, why each thing is there, and how to turn off anything that is not needed to run the shop.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to keep. On the next page you visit, the site can read it back. That is how a shop remembers what is in your basket, which country you are shopping from, and whether you are signed in.
The same rules cover other ways a site stores information on your device, such as local storage. We list ours further down, because a policy that only mentions cookies is not telling you everything.
Which cookies we use, and why
We group them the same four ways the cookie banner does.
- Strictly necessary. The shop cannot work without these, so they are always on and there is no consent to give or withdraw.
- Analytics. Tell us which pages people actually use.
- Marketing. Used to measure and target advertising.
- Preferences. Remember settings you have chosen.
The last three are off until you switch them on. Nothing in those three categories is set while the banner is still sitting there unanswered.
The tables below follow Shopify's own published cookie policy for merchant storefronts, because Shopify sets these cookies rather than us. Individual cookies come and go as Shopify changes the platform, so treat the list as what to expect rather than a guarantee of every name on every page.
Strictly necessary cookies
These keep the basket, the checkout and your sign-in working. They are exempt from consent under the ePrivacy rules, which is why the Required toggle in the preferences panel is locked on. Blocking them in your browser will break the shop rather than make it more private.

Analytics cookies
These tell us which pages people read, which they leave, and where visitors arrived from. We use it to decide what to fix and what to write next. It is not used to build a profile of you, and we do not sell it.
These are set only if you accept analytics.
Analytics cookies, set only after you accept analytics
| Cookie | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
| _shopify_y | Recognises a returning visitor for reporting | 1 year |
| _shopify_s | Groups the pages you view into one visit | 30 minutes |
| _shopify_analytics | Carries analytics information for the store | 1 year |
| _landing_page | Records which page you arrived on | 2 weeks |
| _orig_referrer | Records which site you arrived from | 2 weeks |
| shop_analytics | Analytics for Shop and Shop Pay surfaces | 1 year |
Marketing cookies
These are used to measure advertising and to show relevant ads elsewhere. They are set only if you accept marketing.
If we run advertising through a partner such as Meta or Google, that partner's own cookies would also be set at that point, and only at that point. They are named in the table when they are in use.
Marketing cookies, set only after you accept marketing
| Cookie | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
| _shopify_marketing | Carries marketing information for the store | 1 year |
Preferences cookies
We do not currently set any preference cookies of our own. The category appears in the panel because Shopify's consent tool offers it, and because anything we add later that remembers a setting for you would belong there rather than being quietly folded into one of the other groups.
Other storage on your device
Two things we store are not cookies. They sit in your browser's local storage, they never leave your device, and they are not readable by anyone else.
Local storage set by our own theme
| Name | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
| viewedProducts | Remembers which products you have looked at, so the recently viewed row can show them | Until you clear your browser storage |
| mm_jdgm_reviews_… | Holds a short-lived copy of the review scores for a product, so the page does not have to fetch them again | A few hours |
How to change your choices
Use the button below. It reopens the same preferences panel you saw when you first arrived, with your current choices already showing. Turning something off stops it being used from that point on.
The same control sits in the footer of every page on this site.
If the button does not appear, your browser has no consent record to change here, and your browser's own privacy settings are the place to go.
How long your choice lasts
Your answer is stored for a year in the _tracking_consent cookie, after which you will be asked again. Clearing your cookies also clears the record, so the banner will come back on your next visit.
Your choice is kept per browser and per device. Answering on your phone does not answer for your laptop.
Cookies set by other companies
Two other parties are involved in running this shop.
- Shopify hosts the store and processes payments. Their cookie policy covers everything in the tables above.
- Judge.me collects and displays product reviews. Review content shown on our pages is served from our own theme wherever possible, which is why you will usually see no Judge.me cookie at all.
Embedded content from other sites, such as a video, can set its own cookies once you play it. We do not control those, and their own policies apply.
Browser controls
Every browser lets you block or delete cookies, usually under Settings, then Privacy. Blocking everything will stop the basket and the checkout working, so it is a blunt instrument on a shop. The preferences panel above is the better tool for anything that is not strictly necessary.
Most browsers also offer a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal. Where a browser sends one, Shopify's consent tool takes it into account.
